AVATAR THE LEGEND OF KORRA SEASON 4 EPISODE 4 SERIES
A single being known as the 'Avatar', described as the 'physical embodiment of the world's spirit', has the power to bend all four elements and is responsible for maintaining both the balance of nature and peace between the world's four great nations. This season really made the Legend of Korra series stand apart from other animated franchises, as it continued an excellent track record of developing the Avatar world, characters and events to make them believable and compelling, as well as ending with a character development that was bold and unexpected for what is, at least on paper, a childrens animated show produced by the same network. In it, some people have the ability known as 'bending', by which they control and manipulate either water, earth, fire, or air.

On top of this, Korra radios in to offer great teaching advice to Tenzin, who leans a bit too heavily on traditional training methods that don't belong in the contemporary era that TLOK is set in.The Legend of Korra takes place in the same fictional universe as Avatar: The Last Airbender, whose societies have incorporated in them a multitude of elements derived from East Asian and Inuit cultures. This filler episode is filled with great airbending content that the original show lacked due to the limited number of airbenders during The Hundred Year War. That leaves this episode to fall under the ever-extending umbrella of filler. The cultural differences between the air nomads and the rest of the world were roundly discussed in episodes preceding Original Airbenders. There seems to be no limit to the number of interesting characters that the avatar canon can produce. Suyin stands throughout this episode as a strong and malleable woman who understands learning theory as well as she understands the art of bending. This episode also gives Korra the opportunity to become the first Avatar to metal bend and sees Bolin struggle with his own mental blocks. "Old Wounds" offers up one of the best earth bending battles in either Avatar series, as both of Toph's daughter's Suyin and Lin work through their family drama. The Legend of Korra's filler list includes any episode that does not largely contribute to the main plot-line running through the season it contributes to. Shonen viewers may scoff at the idea that a show without a manga even has fillers, but a show that bends the definition of anime can surely bend the definition of filler as well.
RELATED: Avatar: 5 Reasons Aang Is The Best Part Of The Franchise (& 5 Why It's Korra) One of the ways that Korra flourished was through its use of filler episodes to characterize its contemporary cast of characters. After three strong seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender ( ATLA) it was only a matter of time before another Avatar took up the role of entertaining viewers with epic bending battles and strong filler episodes full of relevant social commentary. That role was filled by c, and though this new series had big shoes to fill after the success of ATLA, it managed to find this success by embracing its differences from the original series.
